WD TV Live

Excellent unit. Plays all my 720p and 1080p MKV files perfectly (even ones as large as 20GB!). Also plays FLAC files nicely too. A couple of things I'd change about the interface and options given, and also that the unit is not really "black" in colour, more of a dark grey/black, but overall it's a quality product.

Avoid!

This was a good player for a while but WD kept fiddling until now at the latest firmware 1.06.15_V it will not play any stereo or dolby digital sound either from files or its own internet apps. I can only play DTS files. ISO's have no sound. Anything with dolby digital has no sound. I say again, the same files that used to play no problem now have no sound through any type of lead(hdmi,optical) Nothing else has changed, just the firmware. I've been resetting, backtraking down the firmwares and back up again, changing setting/wires, hdmi-optical etc etc all without success. The box in now usless to me. (And to think 4 of my friends bought one on my say so). BTW I'm no genius but I'm technically minded. Meaning I tried all the options to get it to play with sound. I don't want games or internet media or any orther stuff. Lets face it, your buying this to hopefully play ANYTHING you have on your harddrive. Not to play games or watch youtube I'm afraid it fails.
