My company was actively involved in testing these phones out prior to their NZ release with vodafone. From the XP1 thru to the XP3. We destroyed an XP1 by loosing it in the mud on a farm for 2 weeks, ran over an XP2 with a digger (accidentally), and broke one of the sim card connectors, and so far the XP3 seems indestructible. These are the best phones for rugged outdoor use we have ever used. Okay, they don't do video but who cares, they make phone calls, send texts, surf the web, have gps and receive calls and texts. The rest is a waste of space anyway! Love the way that we don't have to worry about muddy hands, rain, dust, dirt or drops, they just keep going. Get one now or be a pussy forever!!!!

Rugged? NYET, NADA, ZIP

Ptooey!! the belt clip broke within 2 hours of service. What a fǵ crock!! I expect a rugged clip to go with a rugged phone. the reception is rugged too!! Yep, nobody can hear me.. sending it back.

Problems with other people hearing me

I bought this phone and it arrived 19th December 2011. Yes, it is rugged and all that, but when I tried to call the mobile service provider to get the apn for services and mms details [amaysim] the customer service representative said she could not understand me. Only bits of workds were getting through and I had to change back to my palm treo 650 to be understood. Either there is a fault with this phone or the network, given that the palm worked well, I suspect the phone. I'll be seeking advice from sonim to see if I can fix the issue.
